Prayer

Do you desire to pray but not sure how or where to start? You see and hear other people praying and it seem so easy for them but you don’t believe you can pray like they do.

Well, let me tell you, I used to feel the same way until I discovered that prayer is simply a conversation with our heavenly Father just like we would talk to a family member or a friend. He loves for us to talk to Him, to invite Him into our lives and our days. in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, we are told to “pray without ceasing”. How do you do that? During your day, whether you are walking or working, acknowledge Him and invite Him to be with you. A simple breath prayer – inhale speaking His name, exhale one to three words, such as Jesus, I need You; Father, thank You; Holy Spirit, guide me.

When Jesus was asked by His disciples how to pray, He gave them what we now call the Lord’s Prayer. See Luke 11:2-4. The Lord’s Prayer gives us an outline of prayer such as opening with worship of who God is, presenting petitions, and intercession for others. Members of the Prayer Team intercede on behalf of our faith family when they stand on the sidelines on Sunday mornings and then during the week as they pray over the prayer requests we receive. A prayer of intercession is taking these people and their needs to God and asking Him to bring His Kingdom into their situations.

If you have thought about joining the prayer team but don’t feel you know how to pray like others do, please don’t let that stop you. Remember, prayers can be simple or long and eloquent. God hears them all.
