The Christian life is one of Paradox
What is a paradox? It is a statement or idea that appears to be contradictory.
7 paradoxes to consider:
1. We Find by Losing.
"Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." Matthew. 10:39
2. We Receive by Giving.
"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38
3. We are Exalted by Being Humble.
"For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." Matthew. 23:12
4. Our Weakness is our Strength.
"That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10
5. We Lead by Serving.
" ...whoever wants to be first must be servant of all." Mark 10:44
6. We Live by Dying.
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20
7. We Become More by Becoming Less.
"Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:4
